Northeast Iowa Council History

The Northeast Iowa Council was first chartered as a council in 1917.

Originally, the council was chartered as a “first class” council and named the Dubuque Council. At the time, a first class council was one that had a paid executive. Prior to this time, troops existed in many cities that are now served by the Northeast Iowa Council. These troops chartered directly with the National office.

A project is currently under way to publish a book on the history of the Northeast Iowa Council. The target completion date is January of 2017, the 100th anniversary of the council.

The following links reference drafts of chapters for this document. Editing and page layout have not been completed. If you have anything that you might be able to add to the council history project, please contact Paul at 563.564.6720, or contact the Council Service Center at 563.556.4343.
